Opus 20
Opus 20
Emerging from the nihilistic darkness of Symphony No. 2 in F♯ Minor "The Futile Pursuit of Love" (Op. 19), this trio was written immediately after the completion of my all-consuming monstrosity, and is the faint heartbeat that kept me alive after my second romantic rejection in university. In a return to simplicity and peace on the intimate stage of chamber music, an umbrella shared on a first "date" became the only shelter from relentless downpour, when a storm of false accusations and realizations of manipulation battered the already-shattered remains of my heart. Will I, like Satie, be ultimately found with hundreds of umbrellas as my only companions?
